MEMO To the Citizens of Strafford

May 23, 2012

From Mayor Susan Krieger,

At our May 7th Board of Aldermen meeting, City Administrator, Tom Vicat announced his retirement. Tom has put in a lot of long hours of hard work for our city and we thank him for his service and we suspect that he will still be seen around town contributing to the community through of service groups. We wish him good health and contentment.

Steve Bodenhamer, P.E., has been appointed as the Interim City Administrator by the Board of Aldermen at the May 21st meeting. Steve is very well informed on city matters and has current involvement with the Board due to his appointment to the Citizens Review Committee. Steve will be able to transition easily. He has previously been considered for the Administrator’s position when the Board interviewed in the past but did not fill the position due to financial restraints at the time.

Steve’s tenure will begin June 1st and he will be transitioned into the role for up to a month with Tom’s assistance. An interim administrator will allow the Board more time to carefully advertise and interview for the vital City Administrator position. Steve, of course, will be allowed to apply for that position. Again, advertisements for the position will be placed and the Board will want to interview the top candidates. It can be a lengthy but important process.

The Board’s intent is for the City of Strafford to keep moving forward.

Susan Krieger,
Acting Mayor
