Was purchased by the City of Strafford in March of 2011. This sprawling, four diamond complex has been utilized for many years here in Strafford, and with the help of the Springfield-Greene County park taxes (and perhaps a federal grant), many of the improvements that it is in desperate need of will start being made immediately. The SSC is on Route 66, just east of town.
Howard Smith Community Park
Offers two pavilions for picnics and meetings, two sets of playground equipment and slides, several charcoal grills, a 1/3 mile walking track with a very large grassy area in the middle, and a “sprayground” for children to play in during the summer months. Howard Smith Community Park is located on Bumgarner Road, about a quarter mile off Madison Ave. between Red Bud Ave. and Summeadow Drive.
Croxdale Park
Offers a pavilion for picnics, meetings, a playground for the kids, and plenty of trees to shade you on those hot days in July. It is found on the north side of town behind the TA truck stop on Airport Road. The park includes swings, baby swings, slides, covered picnic tables, rest rooms, and a large grassy area.
